Chevron Canada Works with Stella’s Circle to Help Adults in Need

For more than three decades, Stella’s Circle, an award-winning social services organization in Newfoundland and Labrador, has provided services to adults who experience a variety of mental health issues. To date, Chevron Canada has committed close to $1 million to enable the non-profit agency in St. John’s to help people find the tools they need to change their lives for the better.

In June 2014, Chevron Canada announced a commitment of $450,000 to extend its partnership with Stella’s Circle over the next three years. The funding will be used to increase the organization’s programming capacity in CanDo! Enterprises and support other initiatives that will enable as many as 250 adults to access employment.

Recently, the two organizations have focused their partnerships on CanDo! Enterprises, a program that provides training and paid skill development for adults facing different barriers to employment. The program offers flexible, hands-on work experience in a supportive environment. CanDo’s serves are marketed to businesses and non-profit organizations in the community who contract them to perform a range of services, including landscaping, office work, painting and building maintenance. Over the past three years, more than 12,000 person hours of paid employment have been created through the partnership.
